November Topic: Survivor Resources on Scene and Staying In Touch with Survivors Post-Scene

Presenters will share:

• What resources do they share with survivors at the scene.
• What are the most winsome ways they follow up with survivors after their immediate loss – include resources shared, how they make contact, timing, and a few examples of results
• What data do they collect, how do they store it, and how do they use it to support loss survivors over the weeks/months/years to come.

ABOUT THE PRESENTERS:

Stephanie Schweitzer Dixon is certified as a suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention trainer in multiple training curriculums. She also serves as a member of the National LOSS Team Conference Committee.

Angela Damon is the Executive Director of LOSS Community Services in Columbus (Franklin County), Ohio.

Dr. Don Belau has been actively involved in suicide prevention and suicide postvention efforts in Nebraska for over 30 years. He has provided training for faith communities, law enforcement, mental health staff, K-12 educational programs, e.g. ,  and has led the development of  Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors (LOSS) teams across Nebraska and the nation. Dr. Belau is a trainer for the AFSP Suicide Bereavement Clinician Training Program (SBCTP); and, the Assessing and Managing Suicide Risk (AMSR) programs.  He was instrumental in the development of the Nebraska K-12 Suicide Prevention – Postvention Online n.
